Biography
Professor Sierra was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. He received his B.A. in Education from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1988. After teaching middle school in Madrid and Alcalá de Henares, he came to the United States to pursue a M. A. in Spanish, which he received from Syracuse University in 1998.
His area of specialization is contemporary Latin American Literature, with an emphasis on Hispanic Science Fiction and Fantasy literature, film, and comics. Professor Sierra has taught a wide range of Spanish courses in language, literature and culture. He is interested in the use of technology in the classroom, and he is working in developing a version of a Science Fiction course at the 300 level in iTunes U. Also, he is researching a course in Hispanic Music and Literature.
