Season of the Swamp, a new novel by Mexican author Yuri Herrera translated by our very own Prof. Lisa Dillman, was released last week. The novel about Mexican hero Benito Juárez's time in New Orleans is a finalist for the 2024 Cercado Prize. Congratulations, Profe Dillman!
Health care and gender studies in Argentina

Spanish professor Lisa Dillman again named National Book Award finalist for translated novel
Lisa Dillman, a professor of practice in Emory College’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese, has again been named a National Book Award (NBA) finalist for her literary translation of a novel by Colombian author Pilar Quintana.
Conference at Emory marks nearly a quarter century of supporting the college dreams of Latinx youth
Participants in the 24th-annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) enjoyed a high-energy day of being warmly welcomed to Emory’s Atlanta campus and provided with extensive resources to aid them and their parents in their college searches. A result of the longstanding partnership between Emory and the Latin American Association (LAA), this year’s conference centered on the theme “Together we create the future.”
